Balcony & Sunken Slab Waterproofing

Protective And Specialty Coatings Are High-Performance, Engineered Liquid Or Powder Treatments Applied To Surfaces (Substrates) Primarily To Enhance Durability And Safeguard Against Harsh Environments. Unlike Standard Decorative Paint, These Coatings Are Formulated With Complex Polymers And Additives To Provide Functional Benefits Like Corrosion Control, Chemical Resistance, And Thermal Insulation

Surface Preparation
1) Cleaning: Remove All Loose Material, Dust, Dirt, Oil, And Old Mortar Using Wire Brushes Or Mechanical Tools.
2) Crack Repair: Open Visible Cracks Into A “V-Groove” (Approx. 20mm Deep) And Fill Them With Non-Shrink Crystalline Mortar Or Specialized Sealants Like – Fosroc Brushbond RFX, Fosroc Brushbond TGP, Dr. Fixit 113 Fastfle
3) Coving: Create A Curved Surface (Fillet) At The Junction Of The Floor And Wall Using Polymer-Modified Mortar To Prevent Water From Stagnating In Corners.
Plumbing & Outlet Treatment
1) Pipe Packing: Install All Plumbing Pipes And Drainage Inserts Before Waterproofing The Sunken Slab.
2) Sealing: Fill Gaps Between Pipes And The Concrete Slab With Polyurethane Sealants Or Non-Shrink Grouts To Accommodate Movement.

1) Base Coat: Apply A Cementitious Or Liquid Membrane To The Cleaned Slab. A Popular Choice For Balconies Is A Two-Part Acrylic Polymer Like
2) Two-Coat Method: Apply The First Coat Evenly With A Brush Or Roller. Once Dry (Typically 4–6 Hours), Apply The Second Coat Perpendicular To The First To Ensure Full Coverage.
3) Vertical Extension: Extend The Waterproofing Up The Walls By At Least 150mm To 300mm To Protect Against Capillary Action.
4) Flood/Pond Test: Fill The Area With Water (Approx. 50mm Depth) And Monitor For 24–72 Hours To Ensure There Are No Leakages Before Proceeding.
5) Sunken Filling: After A Successful Test, Fill The Sunken Area With Lightweight Materials Like Brickbat Coba Or AAC Block Bats To Achieve The Desired Slope Toward Drainage.
6) Final Layer: Apply A Final Screed Or Second Layer Of Waterproofing Over The Fill Material Before Laying Decorative Tiles Using Water-Resistant Epoxy Grout.
